Periyavachchan Pillai’s commentaries on Thiruvaimozhi (especially Muthalayiram ) are also celebrated.

Arguably the most influential commentator of all. He wrote Vyakhyanams for almost the entire Nalayira Divya Prabandham , known collectively as the Periyavachan Pillai Vyakyanam . His masterwork is the (Heart of the Teacher), a meta-commentary on how to interpret the Prabandham. His style is vivid, using stories, logic, and razor-sharp analogies.
