Windows 10/11 blocks direct ATA IDENTIFY DEVICE commands via standard drivers. A bootable DOS environment from a USB drive bypasses these restrictions entirely, giving you direct I/O port access.

Creating a bootable drive requires the DLC Boot software (typically around 5GB) and a standard USB flash drive. dlc boot usb
