The Green Mile, released in 1999, stars Tom Hanks as Paul Edgecomb, the supervisor of a death row unit in a Louisiana prison. The film follows Edgecomb's journey as he discovers that one of the prisoners, John Coffey (played by Michael Clarke Duncan), possesses supernatural healing powers. The film received widespread critical acclaim for its storytelling, acting, and direction. It grossed over $285 million worldwide and received four Academy Award nominations.
